Don’t you just love to read a new book?

As in every new relationship, while you read the first few pages you feel things out, checking to see if this will be a good match.

As the story progress, you get to know it better. Its characteristics and all its funny quirks.

It draws you in, begging for your time. As you keep on turning the pages, you become closer and closer. Until you get to the point that you feel like you have made a new friend.

You carry on with your journey together. Sharing emotions like fear, joy, anger and so many more. Experiencing good times and tough times together.

Every spare moment you have you are spending with your new friend, taking the new relationship to new heights. Jealously guarding your time against all the distractions of the outside world.

Sometimes you will disagree and feel like you might want to break up. But every time this undeniable force pulls you back and keep you reading.

Why Read or Rot?

Also Read:  If you don't see the book you want on the shelf, write it!

I have started reading at the age of four. I can remember how I often read under the covers with a flashlight when I was supposed to sleep.

During my early school years, we visited the library once a week. I couldn’t pick out my new book fast enough! By the end of the period, I would have finished it already, leaving me with nothing to read for the rest of the week!

Growing up, Fridays was the highlight of my week. Dad would pack the whole family into the car, and off we go! You guessed right – to the library! We were a family of readers.

In my adult years, I’ve developed a variety of interests like technology, photography, gardening and even writing. But reading was and will always be a part of my life!

Reading for me is like breathing. If I cannot read, my soul will quietly rot away
